Edith Hanson

March 3, 1937 — October 21, 2014

Edith, the youngest of five children, was born to Mons and Emma (Amundson) Hanson on the home farm near Dell, MN. She attended grade school in a one room school house near the farm and graduated from Frost High School. She received both her bachelor''s and master''s degrees from Mankato State College in Mankato. She began her teaching career in Minnesota. She moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1964 where she was one of the first teachers to open Majestic Heights Elementary School. She taught second grade children there for the rest of her teaching years. Edie was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church for many years where she volunteered in the Stephen Minister program among other things. She also volunteered at the Colorado Therapeutic Riding Center where she recently donated her horse, Tique, for their riding program. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Allen, Maurice and Gordon Hanson, sister, Delores Kitzmann, niece Helen Hanson and her best friend of many years, Mary Bidinger. She is survived by seven nieces and nephews. Private family graveside services will be held at Dell Lutheran Cemetery, rural Frost, MN. Memorial donations may be given to Atonement Lutheran Church, 685 Inca Parkway, Boulder, CO. 80303 or the Colorado Therapeutic Riding Center at 11968 Mineral Road, Longmont, CO., 80504.Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Blue Earth is assisting the family with the local arrangements.
