ERMA MAE "Elizabeth Ann" SCHWAB, age 75, of Bass Lake, died Monday, December 8, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2014, at 11:00 AM, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with Rev. Dr. Mark Wilms officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation time will be Friday, December 12th, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Blue Earth and one hour prior to services at the church. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.com Expressions of sympathy are preferred in the form of memorial donations to United Hospital District Home Health and Hospice.Erma was born April 10, 1939, in Blue Earth, the daughter of Otis and Mildred (Peterson) Hougen. She attended Elmore School until ninth grade and finished her high school education at Blue Earth High School, graduating in 1957. She went to work for Blue Earth Valley Telephone Company (BEVCOMM) for over 30 years, retiring in 2001. She married the love of her life Jonas "Bud" Schwab on July 14, 1962 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Blue Earth, officiated by Rev. Arling Thompson. The couple were married 52 amazing years. From this love were born five children: Todd, Damon, Brent, Chad and Erin. Erma enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking, time with her grandchildren and all the great times with her Bass Lake family. Erma is survived by her husband, Jonas "Bud" Schwab of Winnebago, her sons: Todd Schwab of Cambridge, MN, Damon (Nunpa) Schwab of Rhododendron, OR, Brent (Patty) Schwab of Loretto, MN, Chad (Rachel) Schwab of Minneapolis, her daughter, Erin Schwab (Ryan Belau) of St. Peter, MN, her grandchildren: Darin (Katie) Engelby of Roseville, Natice Schwab of New Hope, MN, Anna, Eva, Ian, Elijah and Alexandria Schwab, her sister, Beverly (Frank) Kitzman of St. Claire, MN, her sister in law, Jean Hougen of Blue Earth, her sister-in-law, Verla Weitzel of Blue Earth and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jerry Hougen, sisters: Marvis Northwick, Mavis Anderson, Nylene Holmseth, brothers-in-law: Mike Northwick, Andy Anderson & Laurice Holmseth.Erma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt & friend to many and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
