EUGENE "GENE" GANSMOE, age 87, of Blue Earth, died Monday, December 22, 2014, at St. Luke''s Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 26, 2014, at 2:30 PM, at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th St., Blue Earth, with Rev. Wesley Hafner, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation time will be from 12:30 pm until service time on Friday at Patton Funeral Home. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.comGene was born April 8, 1927, in St. Paul, MN, the son of Arthur and Ida (Tibodeau) Gansmoe. He was raised and educated in Blue Earth where he graduated in 1945. He served in the U.S. Navy prior to his marriage to Geraldine Ruth "Gerry" Schobert on June 9, 1950 in Blue Earth. Gene was carpenter and cabinet maker with Mondahl Wood Products and later with Ankeny & Weiderholdt Construction before starting Gansmoe Construction. He operated his business for many years until his retirement. He was a life long member of the Blue Earth American Legion Post #89 and VFW post 4580 and St. Paul Lutheran Church of Blue Earth. He was an animal lover who cared for his many pets through the years. He enjoyed gardening, following the MN Twins and having coffee and good conversation with friends. His greatest joy was time spent with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be remembered by most for his great sense of humor.Gene is survived by his wife of 64 wonderful years, Geraldine "Gerry" Gansmoe of Blue Earth, his Son, Steve (Marinda) Gansmoe of Woodbury, his daughter, Brenda (Steve) Anderson of Blue Earth, his grandchildren, Brooke (Luke) Schultz of Fairmont, Leah (Brad) Swenson of Brooklyn Park, Taylor Gansmoe, Tiarra Gansmoe & Tanner Gansmoe all of Woodbury and great grandchildren: Vincent Schultz & Gwyneth Schultz of Fairmont & Elsa Swenson and Micah Swenson of Brooklyn Park. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and brothers & sisters-in-law.He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Myrtle (Leslie) Beringer & Mary Ethel (Vernon) Anderson.
