DOROTHA E SCHAVEY, age 94, of Blue Earth, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013, at St. Luke''s Lutheran Care Center.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at 11:00 AM, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Emerald Township, MN with Rev. Wesley Hafner officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation time will be from 5:00 to 7:00PM Monday, February 25, 2013, at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th Street in Blue Earth and 1 hour before the service at the church.. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.comShe was born March 5, 1918, at Silver Lake Township in Martin County, MN, the daughter of Byron & Ada (Bartlett) Wagar. She graduated from East Chain High School in 1936. She married Marvin W. Schavey on June 25, 1940 at the St. Paul''s Lutheran Church Parsonage in Fairmont. She worked 29 years at the United Hospital Districts as a cook and dietary manager. She loved collecting recipes, winning many recipe contests in and around Blue Earth. She loved sewing, quilting, making lap quilts for United Hands Hospice. She was a past president, and secretary for the church ladies aide volunteering for many years. Dorotha is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Norm) Wille of Red Wing, MN, son, Paul (Mary) Schavey of Blue Earth, son, Dan (Paula) Schavey of Blue Earth, son, Glen Schavey of Mankato, brother, John (Nancy) Wagar of Fairmont, sister, Geneva Wood of Granada, brother in law, Russell (Delores) Schavey of Blue Earth, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, son Thomas, parents, and brother Donald Wagar.
