John Garry Hanevik 69 formerly of Elmore passed away surrounded by his family on May 5th 2013 in Springfield Missouri.A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 17, 2013, at 11:00 AM, at Shiloh Lutheran Church in Elmore, with Rev. Robert Roettger officiating. Burial will be in South Blue Earth Cemetery. Visitation time will be one hour before the service at the church. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.comJohn Garry Hanevik was born on February 5 1944 in Saint Paul Minnesota to Hans and Grace (Toot) Hanevik. John graduated from Elmore High School in 1962. After high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force, he married Phyliss Rippentrop on January 8th 1966 at Shiloh Lutheran church in Elmore Minnesota. Following his honorable discharge in November of 1966 John went to work for the Elmore Farmers Elevator which later became Cargill. John worked at Cargill for many years before going back to school to earn a diploma in Multi-Housing Management in 1992. John then moved his family to Branson Missouri where he became the maintenance manager for Treehouse Condominiums until his retirement in April 2013.John was a volunteer fireman in Elmore for 20 years, an EMT on the Elmore Rescue Squad as well as a member of the Elmore American Legion Post #192. John enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, playing cards and spending time with friends and family.Survivors include his wife Phyllis, son Jason and wife Barb of Garland Texas, son John Jr and wife Nina of Elmore, son Clay of Elmore and daughter Kelly Ann and husband Nick Crocker of Austin Texas. Also surviving are brothers Robert and wife Margaret of Riverside California and Norman (Dick) and wife Jo of St. Paul Minnesota. He is also survived by ten grandchildren.John was preceded in death by his parents, brother in law Ronny Yegge and brother in law Dick Gerdis.
