Romaine Babcock

Mr. ROMAINE C BABCOCK, age 91, of Blue Earth, died Saturday, June 1, 2013, at St. Lukes Lutheran Care Center.Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 7, 2013, at 11:00 AM, at Hope United Methodist Church in Blue Earth, with Rev. Durene Cornell officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation is from 5:00-7:00 PM Thurs, June 6, at Patton Funeral Home, 400 E. 14th Street in Blue Earth, and 1 hour before the service at the church. He was born November 4, 1921, in Wells, MN, the son of Clifford and Mary (Baker) Babcock. He graduated from Delavan High School. On September 14, 1942 he married Fern Weber in Blue Earth. Together they lived in Winnebago, Guckeen, Blue Earth, and rural Delavan. Fern passed away in 2000. He later married Maxine Place. Romaine was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church, and was active on several church boards. He enjoyed RV traveling, including two trips to Alaska to deliver Winnebago Motor Homes. He also enjoyed golfing, snow blowing, mowing his acreage, and, most of all, loved spending time with his grandchildren.He is survived by sons, Darrell (Sharon) Babcock of Rosemount, Wynn (Beverly) Babcock of Oak Parks Heights and daughter, Shelly (David) Brown of Jackson. Also surviving are grandchildren, Brent (Nikki) Babcock, Ross Babcock, Mariah (Nick) Benesh, Hilary Babcock, Angeline Babcock and great-grandchildren, Avery Babcock, Rowan Babcock, and Paige Babcock.He was preceded in death by his wife Fern in 2000, and his parents.The family requests that any memorials be directed to the American Diabetes Foundation, or the American Heart Association.
