Ruth E. Midthun

RUTH E. MIDTHUN, age 88, of Frost, died Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at St. Luke''s Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 15, 2013, at 11:00 AM, at United Lutheran Church in Frost, with Rev. Arne Halbakken and Rev. Karl Rydholm officiating. Burial will be in United Lutheran Cemetery, Frost. Visitation time will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th Street in Blue Earth and one hour prior to services at the church. Web condolences may be left at www.pattonfh.comRuth was born October 29, 1925, in Winnebago, the daughter of Samuel and Mildred (Ware) Gaard. She was raised in the Winnebago area where she was a 1942 graduate of Winnebago High School at 16 years of age. At 17 she attended Business School in Mankato. She was married to Loren "Nonnie" Midthun on February 1, 1946 in Winnebago. The couple moved to Frost where Ruth has since been a resident. Nonnie worked at the Rural Electric Coop and Ruth was a homemaker. She was active in the United Lutheran Church in Frost where she was church secretary for many years. She enjoyed crafting, reading, knitting and traveling across the country with the family in the fifth wheel camper. Her greatest joy was spending any time she could with her grandchildren.Ruth is survived by her son, Dennis (Patti) Midthun of Dodge Center, MN, her son, Bruce (Lorna) Midthun of Sioux Center, Iowa, her daughter, Karen (Brian) Albertson of Leland, Iowa, eleven grandchildren, and twenty great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband-Nonnie in 1998, son, Roger Midthun, grandson, Ryne Albertson and great grandson, Zachary Albertson.
