Ervin LaVerne Hanson, age, 87, was called to his eternal rest on Thursday evening at his home in Blue Earth.Memorial services for Ervin L. Hanson will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 10, 2012, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth with Rev. Wes Hafner officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th St. in Blue Earth. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.comErvin was born November 18, 1924 to Oscar and Lydia Ruth (Finnestad) Hanson on the family farm rural Blue Earth. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church. He received his education in country school and graduated from Frost High School in 1942. He served in the United States Army during World War2 and was stationed in occupation forces in Korea. In November, 1947 he married Delores Frerichs and farmed the family farm and sold seed corn in rural Blue Earth. To this union were born four children, Kathleen, Bruce, Douglas and Debbie. His wife Delores died in February of 1977. In November of 1978, Ervin married Donna Ristau Huwe and they began life together in Blue Earth. Ervin was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran church, Blue Earth, where he had served as an Elder and sang in the choir. He also was a past member of the Kiwanis Club, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Ervin worked as an insurance representative for Lutheran Brotherhood until his retirement in 1992.Ervin was blessed with much musical ability and especially a fine tenor voice. He performed solos for literally hundreds of weddings and funerals. His specialty was gospel music and served his Lord and Savior singing in church choirs and other church functions. He was honored to have sung the National anthem for the Republican Convention years ago in St. Paul.Survivors include: wife, Donna Hanson of Blue Earth, sons: Bruce (Sandy) of Blue Earth, Douglas (Cheryl) of Minneapolis, daughters, Kathleen (Ronald) Thompson of Frost and Debbie Wertjes of Kiester and a sister Vivian Midthun of Frost. Also surviving are his stepchildren, Greg (Barbara) Huwe of Minneapolis and Christine (Robert) Mellem of Seattle, WA. He leaves 8 grandchildren, Hilary, Connor, Carter Hanson, Michele Peukert, Shannon Lett, Jacob and Jeremy Hanson and Dani Wertjes.Ervin was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister, one grandchild-Jason Myers, and step-daughter Sheila Everts.
