Mildred C Pirsig, age 94, of Paynesville, formerly of Blue Earth, died Sunday, February 5, 2012, at Koronis Manor in Paynesville. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Febuary 11, 2012, at 2:00 PM, at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth, with Rev. Dr. Mark Wilms, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation time will be one hour before the service at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th Street in Blue Earth. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.com Memorial donations are preferred to Disabled American Veterans Association.Mildred was born April 12, 1917, in Randall, Iowa, the daughter of Peter and Anna (Christensen) Olson. She was raised in the Huntley, MN area where she was a 1935 graduate of Huntley High School. She was married to Lester H. Pirsig in 1937 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Mildred was a homemaker until taking her nurses training in the early 1960''s. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse at Cosmos Nursing home from 1963 to 1966 when she began working for the Minnesota State Hospital System. She retired in 1982. Mildred was a longtime member of the Lutheran Church and was active in the ladies aide, church circles and quilters groups. She especially enjoyed quilting and helped make quilts for the Green Lake Bible Camp auctions, several of which sold for over $1000. Mildred also enjoyed her gardens in her home and out and playing cards with her co-workers. Mildred is survived by her sons: John Pirsig of Minneapolis, Bob (& Lois) Pirsig of Paynesville, Ronald "Butch" (& Marie) Pirsig of Dalbo, Arnold( & Terri) Pirsig of Longville, her brother, Sherman (& Marilyn) Olson of Winnebago, her sisters: Beverly (& Wayne) Schultze of Lakefield, Ruth Adams of LeSeuer, Martha Winslow of Sanford, Florida, Dorothy Benjamin of Redondo Beach, California, her sister in law, Charlotte Olson of Huntley, her step brothers, Merle Olson of Blue Earth, Kenneth Olson of Celon, her sister in law, Kitty Olson of Brainard, her step sister, Marge Tieg of Brainerd, nine grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildrenMildred was preceded in death by her parents, daughter-Shirley Pirsig, sister- Pauline (Cleighton) Johnson and brothers- Amos and John Olson.
