LOREN B. LEIN, age 80, passed away peacefully into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Monday, June 18, 2012, at his home in Blue Earth. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at 2:00 PM, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with Rev. Vic Vriesen officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Friday at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th Street in Blue Earth and one hour prior to services at the church. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.com Expressions of sympathy are preferred to United Hands Hospice.Loren was born February 15, 1932, in Fairmont, the son of Oscar and Myrtle (Jacobson) Lein. He attended country school in Watson and graduated from Montevideo High School. He farmed with his family before marrying Florence Jones in Benson, MN in 1953. He entered the U.S. Army and they were stationed in Fort Hood, Texas. Following his service they returned to Watson to farming briefly before moving to Fairmont and then Blue Earth to work for MN Valley Breeders Association. Loren became a State Farm Agent in Winnebago and then Blue Earth where he had an agency for 35 years. Loren was an active community leader serving as President of Jaycees, Kiwanis, and Trinity Lutheran Church Council. He was elected to serve the Blue Earth City Council for 18 years and 8 of which he was Mayor. In 1991 he was elected and served as a Faribault Co. Commissioner for 16 years. Loren had a 30-year avocation as an auctioneer. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish whenever possible. He raised hunting dogs and was the owner of Blue River Kennels. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, National Turkey Federation, NRA, American Legion Post 89, Blue Earth Chamber of Commerce, Lura Lake Sportsmen Club, MN Cross Bow Assoc., and the MN Deer Hunters Assoc. He was a passionate community leader who enjoyed the outdoors, especially when he was with his family.Loren is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Florence Lein of Blue Earth, his daughter, Renae (James) Sheibley of Stevens Point, WI, his son, David (Cindy Jo) Lein of Winnebago, his brother, Vernon (Connie) Lein of Boyd, his sister, Vera Hermanson of Bismarck, ND, his grandchildren, Mackenzie & Nicholas Lein and Lauren & Samuel Sheibley.He was preceded in death by his parents, Father & Mother-in-law, Chester & Leona Jones, sister, Mavis Larson, and brothers-in-law, Virgil Larson and Tom Hermanson.Loren will be remembered as a passionate man with many interests, opinions and was never afraid to stand up for what he believed was right to serve his family, community and country.
