GERALD A. MURPHY, age 88, of rural Blue Earth, died Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at St. Luke''s Lutheran Care Center. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 27, 2012, at 10:00 AM, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Blue Earth, with Father Leo Koppala officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation time will be from 3:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday, at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th Street in Blue Earth and one hour prior to services at the church. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.comExpressions of sympathy are preferred in the form of memorial donations to Moonlight Lane at St. Luke''s Lutheran Care Center or Interfaith Caregivers.Gerald was born August 3, 1924, at rural Guckeen, MN, the son of William and Isabelle (Willette) Murphy. He was raised and educated in rural Guckeen and was a 1942 graduate of Blue Earth High School. Following school he farmed on his family''s century farm. He was married to Mary Ann Evan on August 31, 1950 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Blue Earth. The couple continued to farm the family farm at Pleasant Prairie Township in Martin Co. for many years. Gerald had also sold seed corn and raised Duroc Hogs through the years. He was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Guckeen where he was a Knights of Columbus member and served on the Parish Council. He had been a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Blue Earth since the closing of the church in Guckeen. Gerald was a member of the PTA at the Granada-Huntley School, was a 4 H leader and enjoyed coffee at the elevator and later playing cards and having coffee with friends at the Derby Inn. Gerald is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Murphy of Blue Earth, his son, Eugene Murphy of Rainier, OR., his son, Richard Murphy of Blue Earth, his daughter, Geralyn (Randy) Peter of Elmore, his son, Terry (Kim) Murphy of Granada, his sister, Naomi (George) Paul of Easton, his sister, Teresa Reed of Olympia, WA, his brother, William (Bev) Murphy of Murfreesboro, TN., his brother, Stanley Murphy of Reno, NV., his brother, Kevin Murphy of Blue Earth, sister-in-law, Carlyn Murphy of Hayes, KS, eight grandchildren, two step grand children and one great grandson .He was preceded in death by his parents, sister-Mary Murphy, brothers- Clement, Harlan & Duane Murphy, sisters-in-law, Pat and Ethel Murphy and brother-in-law, Don Reed.
