George Wesley Garvick

George W. Garvick, age 76, of Elmore, died Friday, October 5, 2012, at Golden Living Center, Olivia, MN. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at 2:00 PM, at Elmore United Methodist Church with Rev. Arthur Keith officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Elmore. Visitation time will be one hour prior to services at the church. Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Blue Earth is assisting the family with the arrangements. He was raised and educated in Elmore where he attended Elmore Schools. He worked on his father''s farm and as a farm hand at other area farms before his marriage to Jean M. Whalen on December 30, 1958 in Easton, MN. George later worked for AMPI Dairy in Paynesville for several years and then for Elmore Nursery. He was a mechanic and always had his small engine repair business he ran from his garage. He was always busy fixing or repairing something. His spare time was spent playing with his dog or with his grandchildren whenever possible.George is survived by his wife, Jean Garvick of Elmore, his son, Brian (Lisa) Garvick of Blue Earth, his brothers: Hank (Bernice) Garvick of Kiester, Milford Garvick of Elmore, Leonard (Carolyn) Garvick of Steen, his sisters: Minnie Michaels of Elmore, Junice Huston of Elmore, Vinnie DeNeui of Winnebago, Violet (Bob) Armstrong of Stockton, California, three granddaughters, one grandson and one great grandson.He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
