Judy was born January 20, 1950, in Blue Earth, the daughter of Edwin and Aileen (Anderson) Schaper. She was raised and educated in the Blue Earth and Bricelyn areas where she was a 1968 graduate of Bricelyn High School. She attended the University of Iowa and then Mankato State University where she earned a degree in Journalism in 1973. She began teaching English Language in Swea City, Iowa and later in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Following the birth of her first child she began working as a staff writer with the Winnebago News and later started working at ST. Luke''s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth in 1983. She worked in many departments at St. Luke''s over the years including as Activities Coordinator, gift shop manager and volunteer coordinator. For the last few years she had also been a contributing writer for the Faribault Co. Register until health issues forced her retirement from both jobs this past summer. Judy was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, where she was a frequent scripture reader on Sundays. She also enjoyed her many pets, reading, writing her stories and helping people.Judy is survived by her husband, John M. Sabin of Blue Earth, daughter, Shannon (Carlos) Leyva of Blue Earth, daughter, Brooke Sabin of Blue Earth, her brother, Gary Schaper of Wells and 3 grandchildren: Nora & Carla Leyva & Riley Garvick.She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter, Paige Sabin.
