Marie Baum, age 92 of Blue Earth, died Thursday, February 10, 2011 at United Hospital, Blue Earth. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with Rev. Dr. Mark Wilms officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time at the church. Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Blue Earth is assisting the family with the arrangements. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.com Expressions of sympathy are preferred in the form of memorial donations to Trinity Lutheran Church or Friendship Court.Anna Marie Baum was born the daughter of Osmund and Ruth (Thompson) Mortvedt on May 31, 1918 in Rome Township, Faribault Co. MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Shiloh Lutheran Church in Elmore. She received her education in a country school and Elmore High School. Marie married Clarence Baum at the Lakota parsonage in 1936. They lived in Lakota following their marriage and moved to a farm NE of Blue Earth in 1941. They were blessed with three sons, one dying in an accident at the age of 8. Marie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she served on various committees in TLCW and circles and taught Sunday School. She worked as a telephone operator for many years at Blue Earth Valley Telephone, now Bevcomm. She liked to travel & enjoyed taking walks early in the morning and evenings. She liked to attend music and sporting events at the high school and college, especially in years her sons were participating. Her 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren were her pride and joy in her later years.Marie is survived by her son, Clair (Mary) Baum of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, son, Marlyn Molly (Sue) Baum of Chatfield, MN, her brother, Oris (Tootie) Mortvedt of Blue Earth, sister-in-law, Ione Baum of Charlevoix, Michigan, 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1985, son, Lynn Baum and 2 sisters, Judy Weise and Ona Teigland.
