Carmel Murphy, age 86, of Blue Earth, died Sunday, May 29, 2011, at United Hospital, Blue Earth.Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 3, 2011, at 11:00 AM, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Blue Earth, with Father Eugene Stenzel officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation time will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th Street, in Blue Earth and one hour prior to services at the church. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.comCarmel was born April 12, 1925, at Easton, MN, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Rauenhorst) Schultz. She was raised in Easton where she attended Mt. Carmel Catholic School and later attended Wells High School. She was married to Raymond H. Murphy on October 30, 1945 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Easton. The couple farmed in JoDaviess Township East of Guckeen for many years. Carmel was a homemaker, raising 6 children and had worked at Green Giant and was a bailiff at the Faribault Co. Courthouse. She was a longtime mem ber of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Guckeen where she held several church offices and taught catechism. Through the years she helped with many 4H sewing projects, raised wonderful gardens, was a great cook, baker and canner. She was know for her exceptional apple pies. He greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carmel & Ray had recently enjoyed a wonderful celebration of their 65th wedding anniversary with many family and friends.Carmel is survived by her husband, Raymond Murphy of Blue Earth, her daughter, Carol (Bob) Moore of Blue Earth, her son, George (Jean) Murphy of Blue Earth, her daughter, Barbara (Tom) Bleckeberg of Austin, her daughter, Sue (Tom) Riemann of Albert Lea, her son, Clyde Murphy of Chaska, her son, Matt Murphy of San Francisco, California, her brother, Leon (Midge) Schultz of Easton, her sister, Anita (Fred) Virnig of Blue Earth, 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren .She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Cletus, Victor & Vernon Schultz and a sister, Marvel Kubu.
