RAYMOND H. MURPHY, age 89, of Blue Earth, was welcomed into his heavenly home on Friday, November 11, 2011, by Carmel, his wife of 65 years, who died earlier this year. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 14, 2011, at 10:30 AM, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Blue Earth, with Father Jon Moore officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation time will be from 2:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday, at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th Street, in Blue Earth and one hour prior to services at the church. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.comRaymond was born October 21, 1922, in Faribault Co., MN, the son of William Howard and Anna Irene (Guckeen) Murphy. He was raised, educated and lived his entire life in the Guckeen area where he farmed the family farm 1 mile east of Guckeen. He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Guckeen, where he was baptized and confirmed, until the church closed and he became a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Blue Earth. Raymond was married to Carmel T. Schultz on October 30, 1945 in Easton, MN. He retired from farming in 1984 but continued to live in the Guckeen area until just after his wife(TM)s death earlier this year. He had currently been a resident of St. Luke(TM)s Lutheran Care Center. Raymond was an avid reader and loved to visit with his many friends. He was a historian of the Guckeen area and the many families who resided there and had served on the Jo Daviess township board and was Court Baliff of Faribault County for 10 years. He also was part of the Our Lady of Mercy Parish Council and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was known for his beautiful tea rose gardens, immaculate lawn and his joy of spending time with kids, especially his grandchildren.Raymond is survived by his daughter, Carol (Bob) Moore of Blue Earth, his son, George (Jean) Murphy of Blue Earth, his daughter, Barbara (Tom) Bleckeberg of Austin, his daughter, Sue (Tom) Riemann of Albert Lea, his son, Clyde Murphy of Chaska, his son, Matthew Murphy of San Francisco, California, his brother, Bob (Angie) Murphy of Blue Earth, his sister, Marlene (Jerry) Winter of Rake, Iowa, 11 grandchildren & 18 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, wife-Carmel in May of 2011, and brothers Harold and Donald Murphy.
