Marvin was born January 12, 1934, at rural Blue Earth, the son of Walter and Elsie (Nimz) Prechel. Marvin farmed his familys century farm for all his adult life, retiring in 1982. He was married to Beverly J. Zutz on June 7, 1952 in Blue Earth. He was later married to Clare M. Cheney on June 20, 1975 in North Mankato. Marvin was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church rural Blue Earth, where he was confirmed in 1947. He farmed and worked seasonally at Green Giant Co. and Seneca for many years. Marvin enjoyed bowling, billiards, hunting, fishing and old western books and movies. He was also a member to the Blue Earth and later Bricelyn Sportsmans Clubs and of the MN State Trap Shooting Team where he won several state championships.Marvin is survived by his wife, Clare Prechel of Blue, his son, Dexter Prechel of Blue Earth, his daughter, Darlene (Jean Paul) Moore of Pleasantton, California, his step son, Jon (Tammy) Cheney of Farmington, his step daughter, Julia Cheney of Bricelyn, his step daughter, January Brown of N. Mankato, six grandchildren: Nathaniel Cheney, Christina Cheney, Jesse Cheney, Megan Brown, Michael Brown, Aaron Dirks-Prechel and three great grandchildren: Kallie-Kae Kilman, Angela May Gieseke and James Larry Cheney. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
