Vernal Skogen, age 85, of Easton died April 19, 2010, at his home as a result of complications of a heart conditiuon. Vernal was born January 22, 1925, in rural Frost, MN, the son of Nordahl and Ida (Fjermestad) Skogen. He was raised in the Frost and rural Blue Earth areas where he attended country schools and graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1942. He attended St. Olaf College in Northfield before entering the U.S. Navy Air Service during WW II. He returned from the service and began farming in Faribault County. He was married to Harriet Boettcher on January 30, 1948 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. He farmed for several years and then worked with Wimco Farm Supply in Easton for 10 years. He later farmed with his sons near Marshall, MN for several years and continued to support the family farming efforts. Vernal was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Delavan and of the Easton American Legion Post # 569. He is survived by his wife, Harriet Skogen of Easton, his daughter, Laura Skogen of Rochester, his son, Glen (Diana) Skogen of Delavan, his son, Jim Skogen of Blue Earth, his son, David Skogen of Arco, his son, Gordy Skogen of Tyler, his grandchildren, Scott Skogen & Jamie (Annetta) Skogen, and his great grandchildren: Alexis, Sierra & Emily Skogen. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-Orville Skogen and sister, Bernice Vinje.
