Joyce was born February 2, 1941 in Blue Earth, MN to Al and Catherine Goshorn. She graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1959. After graduation Joyce moved to Rochester, MN. She was determined to remain independent and working as long as possible. Her work started with being a nanny and later she moved on to Ability Building Center. She was currently involved with the ABC Abilities Option program. In her earlier years, Joyce enjoyed operating a ham radio, swimming and riding her 3 wheel bike. The past 12 years Joyce lived at Allendale House, Bear Creek Services. There she enjoyed life with her family of residents and caretakers. She enjoyed going out to movies and pizza, watching television re-runs and jelly beans. Cerebral Palsy may have beaten her physically but it did not conquer her irrepressible spirit. Joyce had an unwavering faith in God. The grace she showed in adversity was inspiring to all who knew her. Joyce is survived by 3 sisters: January (Joe) Bolis of Sun Lake, Arizona, Jo Ellyn (Tom) Bryan of Denton, Texas, Julie (Harvey) Hyatt of Minneapolis; one brother, John (Vicki) Goshorn of Blue Earth and special friend and conservator Brenda Rossman. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandmother Jennings and a sister, Jean. Joyces family would like to thank the staff at Allendale House for their loving care and compassion and Dr. J. Scheitels management of her care.
