John Silrum

John was born on December 27, 1913, at Faribault County, the son of Christian and Kiai (Legvold) Silrum. John was raised and educated in Bricelyn graduating in 1931 from Bricelyn High School. John married Leona Kontzelmann in Wells on November 27, 1941. In 1977 the two moved to Blue Earth after retiring from farming. In 1979 Leona passed away. On March 3, 1984 John married Dorothy Udstuen Hanson in Faribault County. John was very active in the Liberty Church in Rake and later at Faith Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. John is survived by his wife, Dorothy Silrum of Blue Earth; son, Daryl (Karen) Silrum of Des Moines, Iowa; daughter, Valerie ( Dick) Boyer, of Bozeman, Montana, step-son, Kenneth (Kathy) Hanson of Austin; step-son, Keith (Lori) Hanson of Mankato; step-daughter, Lavonn Thompson of Elmore; 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers
