Rudolph "Rudy" E. Cyphers

February 18, 1925 — July 7, 2010

Rudy was born February 18, 1925, at Mankato, MN, the son of Albert and Alma (Beckendorf) Cyphers. He was raised in the Blue Earth, East Chain & Albert Lea areas where he attended country schools. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II where he was a carpenters mate 3rd Class. He returned home and farmed north of Blue Earth. He was married on May 25, 1927 in Elmore to Velma Mae Kuckenbecker. The couple farmed near Delavan and in Albert Lea before purchasing their farm south east of Blue Earth in 1956. Velma died in 2000 and Rudy continued farming until his retirement in 2007. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he served as an elder, Blue Earth American Legion Post 89, VFW Post 4580, was a longtime Farm Bureau member and was a 20 year member of both the Blue Earth Township Board and the Faribault Co. Historical Society. He was also an American Dairy Association Officer, Dairy Herd Improvement Association member, an FFA Honorary Chapter Farmer and a Delegate for the Mid America Dairy Farmers. Rudy is survived by his son, Gerald (Karen) Cyphers of Winnebago, his son, Norman (Mary Ellen) Cyphers of Lafayette, New Jersey, his son, Rollo (Donna) Cyphers of Blue Earth, his son, Philip Cyphers of Blue Earth, his son, John (Ruth Ann) Cyphers of Mantorville, Special Friend, Fern Adams of Blue Earth, his sister, Leilah Anderson of Winthrop, his sister, Eldora Kroells of Green Isle, his sister, Elaine (Marv) Rohm of Rudolph, Wisconsin, daughter-in-law, Patty Cyphers of Blue Earth, son-in-law, Calvin Smith of Medford, Oregon, sisters-in-law: Peggy Cyphers of Winnebago, Elaine (Darvin) Cottur of Fairmont, Janice (John) Koziel of Roseville, Mary Kuckenbecker of Elmore, 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many niece & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, Howard, Alvin & Jerome Cyphers and a sister, Lenora Smith.
