Alice was born July 21, 1918, at Guckeen, the daughter of John and Mary (Boisclare) Clifford. She attended school in Guckeen and then went to San Francisco where she welded war ships during WW II. It was there she met and later married William A. Hugener on September 10, 1943. The couple lived in Detroit, Michigan after the war for 20 years. Alice returned to Blue Earth in 1977 and became a resident of Crescent Apartments in 1979. She continued to live in Crescent Apartments until moving to Stewartville in 2008 at the age of 90. Alice was a master gardner growing wonderful flowers and vegetables. She was also a member of Our Lady of Mercy catholic church in Guckeen and SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Blue Earth. Alice is survived by her daughter, Jo (Leslie) Olson of Spring Valley, her son, John (Christine) Hugener of Linden, Michigan, her daughter in law, Charlene Hugener of New Hampshire, her sister in law, Jewell (Don) Waite of Washougal, Washington, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, William Hugener, brothers: Francis, Bernard, Dewey & William Clifford and sisters, Anna Deinhart and Rosemary Struss.
