She was born June 15, 1920, in Faribault Co., MN the daughter of Samuel and Ida (Bassett) Schandel. She was raised and educated in Blue Earth where she graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1938. She attended Cosmetology College in Mankato and became a beautician. She worked as a beautician before her marriage to Robert W. Ankeny on May 22, 1941 in Blue Earth. The couple moved to Los Angeles, California where they worked for Lockhead Aircraft and June was a Rosie the Riveter during WW II. They returned to Blue Earth in 1946, where June was a homemaker. They retired to Custer, South Dakota in 1978. June and Bob came back to Blue Earth in 1986. June was a longtime member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church where she was 50 year plus member of the Catholic Daughters. She was also a member of Extension Club, the Red Hat Society, was a Boy Scout Den Mother many times and enjoyed various card clubs through the years. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing and painting. June is survived by her son, Robert (Nancy) Ankeny of Blue Earth, her son, Ronald (Nancy) Ankeny of St. Paul, her son, Michael "Mick" (Patty) Ankeny of Remer, her daughter, Judith (Dr. Jeff) Liebo of West Linn, Oregon, her son, Charles (Ruth) Ankeny of Jackson, Wyoming, her son, Steven (& Fianc Rhonda) Ankeny of Carmel, California, her daughter, Tamara "Tammy" (Greg) Kastner of Rochester, her Son, James (Lucinda) Ankeny of Edina, 17 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren . She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1994, a brother, Bud Schandel and sister Fern Crawford
