Jean was born December 17, 1924, at Starbuck, MN, the daughter of William and Ida (Swenson) Anderson.She attended country schools in Starbuck. She then attended the University of Minnesota where she earned a Graduate in Nursing and a Bachelors of Science with high distinction in 1947. She was married to Walter J. Schwen on November 28, 1947 in St. Paul, MN. Jean was the Faribault County Public Health Nurse in the 1970s.She volunteered at the local food shelf and meals on wheels for many years. She was a member of Salem United Methodist church where she volunteered for many activities. She wasa member of theHome Economics Club andthe Legion Auxiliary for 59 years. She enjoyed raising African Violets, reading andcrocheting. She loved following word affairs, politics, the Vikings and theMinnesota Twins. Jean is survived by her daughter, Andrea (Richard) Sanders of Gallatin, TN, daughter, Katherine (Randal) Tweden of Mahtomedi, her son, William ( Catherine) Schwen of Cottage Grove, her son, Richard (Zeinab) Schwen of Cincinnati, OH, her son, David (Lynda) Schwen of Bemidji, her son, Edward (Roben) Schwen of Rochester, her son, Jeffrey (Gayle) Schwen of Lakeville, her brother, John (Mary Ann) Anderson of Edina, her brother, Donald (Dorothy) Anderson of Starbuck; 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband-Walter in 2006, a grandson, Nicholas Schwen and sister, Carol Anderson.In Lieu of Flowers; donations requested to the local food shelf.
