Opal M. Pugsley

Opal was born September 5, 1912, in Pilot Grove Township, the daughter of Harry and Anna (Frankum) Woolery. She graduated from Blue Earth School in 1929 and from Blue Earth Technical Teacher Training a year later. She was a school teacher in District #125 school, rural Elmore. On August 31, 1933, Opal married Garold W. Pugsley in Garner, Iowa. She moved frequently as Garold was in the U.S. Forestry Service and lived in many area of the country including: Iowa, Missouri, Michigan, New York and Arizona. The couple returned to Elmore in 1948 where she worked at the Elmore Nursery along with Garold. In 1955, they purchased the Sheridan Road Nursey in Peoria, Illinois which Opal helped run until they retired to Elmore in 1960. She was a member of the United Methodist Church where she faithfully participated in the UMW and Dorcas Circle. She was also a member of the Good Sam Camping Club, Minn-Iowa Rock Club and Eastern Star. Opal and Garold loved to go fishing for walleye near the Canadian border and rock hunting. She had an artistic eye and she loved nature, gardening, painting and crafts. She is in Jesuss arms listening to God Himself sing a song of joy over her. Now she finally really knows how precious she is and how loved. She will finally get to paint with colors we cant even imagine, with perfect eyesight and no pain. Opal is survived by her five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Garold, daughter, Joanne Sager, son Larry Pugsley, sister, Ethel Hustuft and brother, Harold Woolery.
