Gerhard Boettcher

Gerhard Walter Boettcher was born November 9, 1916 in Elmore Township, the son of Henry B. Boettcher and Hattie (Sohn) Boettcher. He attended school at the St. John Parochial School in Elmore Township. He was married to Laura R. Klatt on November 30, 1939 at St. John Lutheran Church in Elmore Township. The couple lived and farmed in Elmore and Blue Earth Township all their lives where Gerhard enjoyed doing field work until he was 91. They moved to Blue Earth in 2004 and Gerhard moved to Nicollet Place (assisted living) in December 2008. The couple wintered at their home in Florida from 1963 until 1998 until his wife could no longer make the trip. He loved playing pool while there and farming in Minnesota. His pride and joy was being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren who called him Grandpa B. Gerhard was a member of St. John Lutheran Church all his life and was a trustee for many years when he was younger. Gerhard is survived by his daughters, Janice (Steven) Ripley of Blue Earth, and Karen (Doug) Paape of Madison Lake, his 4 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 2 step great grandchildren. His sisters-in-law Luella Boettcher and Mavis Boettcher.Gerhard is preceded in death by his wife and infant son, Gerald, his parents and siblings, Art Boettcher, Mildred Kast and Raymond Boettcher.
