Marcell was born September 21, 1916, in Blue Earth, the son of Jens C. and Lottie M. (Gaddis) Sorensen. He was raised and educated in Blue Earth where he attended schools. He operated Sorensen Excavating and Trenching with his dad for several years until the early 1960s. He was married to Mildred Thornton in the early 1930s. Following her death during childbirth he was married to Martha E. Schutt on October 8, 1939. He operated a Phillips 66 gas station until the mid 1970s when he began a wood crafts business, the House of Wooden Boots, with his 3rd wife Ardella (Nelson) Sorensen. Marcell retired in the early 1980s and was a former member of the International Order of the Odd Fellows and the Royal Chislers. Marcell is survived by his daughter, Carol (& Chuck) Hanson of Roseburg, Oregon, daughter, Judy (& Jeff) Nyberg of Cadiz, Kentucky, his daughter, Patricia (& John) Dinnella of Joliet, Illinois, his daughter, Kathy Thomas of Plymouth, his son, Michael (Ngoc) Sorensen of Blue Earth, his son, William (& Anita) Sorensen of Dallas, Oregon, his brother, Robert Sorensen of California, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 wives, an infant daughter, sister- Charlotte Reynolds and one great great grandson.
