Donald A. Christensen

Don was born November 18, 1920 in Clay County, Iowa, the son of Hans and Katherina (Christensen) Christensen. He was raised and educated in the Spencer, Iowa area and later graduated from Osage High School, Osage, Iowa in 1937. After high school he worked in Osage and then at Consolidated Air Craft in California before entering the U.S. Army in 1942 where he served in Europe. He returned to Osage, IA from service in 1945 and was later married to E. Lucille Studer on June 20, 1948. The couple lived in Osage and Storm Lake, IA before coming to Blue Earth in 1956 where he started Dons Fleet Supply. Don continued to own and operate the store to the present and had been in partnership in similar stores in Jackson, MN and Estherville, IA. Don was a longtime member of the former First United Methodist Church, now Hope United Methodist Church, in Blue Earth, the Masonic Lodge, Riverside Town & Country Club, American Legion Post 89 and VFW Post 4580. He also served on the United Hospital Board and was a director at First National Bank in Blue Earth for 41 years, retiring in 2008. Spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren, and being at the store most every day were Dons favorite things. He is survived by his wife, Lucille Christensen of Blue Earth, daughter Vicki (& Mike) Johnston of DeLand, Florida, his son Bill (& Laurie) Christensen of Blue Earth, his 5 grandchildren: Mariah Christensen, Caleb (& Abby) Christensen, Tess Christensen, Christen Johnston & Daniel Johnston, and three cousins. Don was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Stephen, and two brothers Leslie and Norman Christensen.
