Leona was born November 30, 1925, in Emmett County, Iowa, the daughter of William and Josie (Hanson) Bryan. She was raised and educated in the Swan Lake Township area and graduated from Maple Hill High School in 1943. She attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa and earned her teaching certificate. She was married to Maurice O. Drew on January 11, 1947 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She moved to Swea City and taught school at Grant Township, Halfa and later at Ledyard, Iowa before retiring in 1968. Leona was a very active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Swea City. She loved music all her life and sang, hummed or whistled tunes at any occasion. She was even part of a local trio with friends that performed for many church functions, events and Christmas services. Leona is survived by her daughter, Jacque Drew of Blue Earth, her daughter, Jill (& Bill) Rotterman of Elmore, her sister, Mary Saul of Jefferson, Iowa and her 5 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Jane Drew-Hoien, sister, Shirley Wright and brothers, Bob & Bill Bryan.
