James Anderson was born May 12, 1932 at Frost, the son of Ernest J. and Olive (Olsen) Anderson of Frost. He graduated from Frost High School in 1950 and from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1954. He was inducted into the Gustavus Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995. After college, he taught English and coached tennis at Minnetonka High School until he began selling educational materials to schools his lifelong passion and occupation. With the exception of the two years he served in the U.S. Army, he remained in the education sales field until his retirement. He lived in Texas and Louisiana during most of his working years before returning to Frost. He enjoyed painting, golf, tennis and times with family and friends during his retirement. Jim married Barbara Ruud in 1955. They were divorced in 1973. He later married Dr. Betty Campbell who preceded him in death. He is survived by his partner, Jane Miller of Frost, by two sons: David (Kerri) Anderson of LaCrosse and Jeffrey (Sue) Anderson of Dallas and by a granddaughter, Amanda Anderson of Bemidji. Also surviving is one sister Marilynn (Robert) Martinson of Minnetonka and one brother Larry (Sonja) Anderson of Frost; by two nieces: Karin Martinson (George Caswell) of Wayzata and Ingrid (Dean) Rueter and their two children of Woodbury, and by two nephews: Brian (Denise) Martinson and their three daughters of Brookfield, WI and Jake (Heather) Anderson and their four children of Frost; by cousins and by one aunt, Virginia Olsen of Blue Earth. In addition to his wife, Betty, he was preceded in death by his parents; several aunts and uncles and three cousins. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are preferred to the Gustavus Class of 1954 Scholarship Fund, to the United Lutheran Church Cemetery Association Perpetual Care Fund, or to the donors choice.
