Marvin was born October 6, 1918, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, the son of Nels and Hannah (Larson) Nelson. He was raised and educated in Elmore where he was a 1937 graduate of Elmore High School. He served in the US Army 41st Infantry during WW II where he was stationed in Australia and New Guinea. He returned from the service and worked as a meat buyer for a company in Albert Lea and later became the City Clerk in Elmore. He was married to Donna J. Lowery on October 21, 1950 in Mankato. They were later divorced. In 1954 he became a clerk in the Faribault Co. Auditors office and soon became a Deputy Auditor. He was elected Faribault Co. Recorder in the late 1960s and continued to serve in that capacity until his retirement in 1982. Marvin was a member of First United Methodist Church, Blue Earth Lions Club, Blue Earth American Legion Post 89, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4580 and enjoyed annual trips for his 41st Infantry reunions. Marvin is survived by his son, Brian Nelson of Jackson, Wyoming, son, Mark (& wife Teri) Nelson of Blue Earth, his daughter, Teri Nelson of Winona, nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter-Roxanne, and brothers, Sam, Gene & Carroll Nelson.
