James D. Fleming, Sr.

Jim was born December 9, 1931, at Blue Island, IL, the son of David and Elizabeth (Berger) Fleming. He was raised in Blue Island, Illinois. He graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in Chicago, Illinois. Jim entered the U.S Navy in 1950 and served in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1954.He married Virginia Sanaghan on September 20, 1958 at Seven Holy Founders Catholic Church in Calumet Park, Illinois. Jim was employed by Illinois Bell Telephone Co. for 21 years. After leaving Illinois Bell, he started his own cabinetry business in New Lenox, Illinois. James and Virginia moved to Blue Earth four years ago to be closer to family. He was known in town for his charming smile and friendly words to all he met. James David Fleming, Sr. is survived by his loving Wife of 51 years, Virginia (Ginny) Fleming of Blue Earth, his Son James (Mary Ellen) Fleming of North Mankato; his Daughter, Sarabeth (Gary) Maurisak of Des Moines; Daughter, Sister John Mary Fleming O.P. of Nashville, Tennessee; Daughter, Kathleen (Thomas) Keenan of Windsor, Connecticut. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Sarah (Michael) Maiers of Des Moines; Denise Fleming of North Mankato; Jacqueline Maurisak of Des Moines; John Fleming of North Mankato and Anna Keenan of Windsor, Connecticut. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Patricia Holm.
