Luverne was born May 13, 1924, at Boone County, Iowa, the son of Glen and Jenny (Bently) Runyon. He was raised and educated in Boone County, Iowa where he was a 1944 graduate of Ogden High School.. He farmed in near Ogden and was married to Ina Earl on February 22, 1946 in Ogden, IA. The couple farmed near Ogden until moving to Elk River, MN in 1967 where Luverne worked at the Cargill Research Farm. He later began working as a metal fabricator at several fabricator companies in the twin cities area. In 1972 they returned to farming in Zimmerman, MN where Luverne retired in 1986. The couple moved to Blue Earth in 2006. Luverne had been a member of the Methodist Church in each community where he resided. Luverne is survived by his wife, Ina Runyon of Blue Earth, his son, Luverne "Sonny" (Leona) Runyon of Milaca, his son, Daniel (Marlene) Runyon of Elk River, his brother, James (Mary) Runyon of Lawrence, Kansas, his sister, Donna Foust of Jefferson, Iowa, 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Wendell Runyon.
