Wayne Whitney

October 3, 1925 — January 15, 2008

Wayne was born October 3, 1925, at Delavan, MN, the son of William & Nellie (Wallace) Whitney, Sr.He was a nearly lifelong resident of Delavan, graduating from Delavan High School in 1943. Following school he worked on his family farm. He was married to Helen M. Langworthy on November 11, 1945 at the Delavan United Methodist Church. The couple farmed his 4th generation century farm for many years. In 1966 Wayne began working construction in addition to farming. He continued to his dual occupation until retirement in 1987. Wayne & Helen lived in Clear Lake, Iowa for a short time and enjoyed several years of wintering in Texas. Wayne was a longtime member of the Delavan United Methodist church where he taught Sunday School and held many church offices through the years. He was also active on the Delavan School Board, was a 4-H leader and was part of the Faribault Co. Dairy Heard Improvement Association. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather.Wayne is survived by his loving & caring wife of 62 years, Helen, of Delavan, daughter, Judith (& husband Leon)Werner of Marshall, daughter, Diana (& husband Glen) Skogen of Delavan, daughter, Paula (& husband Bob) McCueof New Prague, daughter, Patti (& husband Guy) DeLeon of Redwing, 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren,brother, William (& wife Betty) Whitney, Jr. of Delavan, brother, James (& wife Caroline) Whitney of Blue Earth,brother, Roger (& wife Diane) Whitney of Winnebago, sister-in-law, Evelyn Whitney of Delavan, brother-in-law,Harley (& Beth) Langworth of Delavan and several nieces & nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Walter Whitney.
