Willard was born March 14, 1918, at Elmore, the son of Ernest and Emma (Wiese)Madetzke.He was raised and educated at rural Elmore and farmed on the family farm with his father and brothers. On June 1, 1941 he married Jean A. More at Pilot Grove Twsp. Butch and Jean farmed in rural Elmore and then in Pilot Grove Twsp. In 1961 he left full time farming went to work for the Elmore Farmer?s Elevator for 20 plus years. Butch and Jean retired to Blue Earth in the early 1980?s. He continued to be involved in farming; working for Ed & David Pirsig and several other area farmers. Besides farming and horses, Butch?s real passion was dancing. He and Jean belonged to the Polka Club of America (Polka of A) and danced all over the country from California to Nebraska to Florida. They appeared numerous times on Band Wagon TV show in Mankato. Mrs. Madetzke preceded him in death in 2002.Butch is survived by his Daughters, Carna(Larry) Pfeil of Lincoln, NE, Merna(William)Russell of Goodyear, AZ & El Segundo,CA, his son, Ronald(Dorey)Madetzke of Emmetsburg, IA , 4 Grandchildren, Renee?(Dan)Hruska, Phoenix,AZ, David(Tracey)Smith, Lincoln, NE, Michele(Armando)Franco, Mission Hills, CA, Jenifer(Chad)Rolie, Bellingham, WA, 4 Step Grandchildren, Trent Pfeil, Tucson, AZ, Ryan(Sheri)Pfeil, Lincoln, NE, Melanie Peterson, Sloan, IA, McKenzie Peterson, Sioux City, IA, 8 Great Grandchildren, 5 Step Great Grandchildren.He was also preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and four brothers. Memorials are preferred to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth or to the family for later designation.
