She was born October 25, 1931, in Winnebago, the daughter of Gustav and Emma (Espe) Stensland.Lois was raised and educated in the Blue Earth area where she was a 1949 graduate of Blue Earth High School. She worked as a secretary at Farm Bureau for a few years before her marriage to Russell D. Hornke on August 18, 1956 in Blue Earth. Lois was a homemaker and was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, where she was active in several circle groups, was co-chair of the Trinity Cookbook committee and taught Sunday School. She was accomplished at Hardanger and was a tremendous cook. She loved cooking and baking elaborate cakes for family birthdays. She especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and family.LOIS IRENE HORNKE is survived by her husband, Russell Hornke of Blue Earth, her daughter, Debra (& Jeff) Germer of Rochester, her daughter, Kayla (& Randy) Erdmann of Kasson, her son, Raymond Hornke of Blue Earth, her brother, Ronald (& Marilyn) Stensland of Blue Earth, her brother, Donald (& Dorothy) Stensland of Blue Earth, her sister-in-law, Marvis Stensland of Blue Earth, her sister-in-law, Jean Stensland of New Mexico, and her 3 grandchildren: Ryan Erdmann, Brady Erdmann and Sarah Germer.She was preceded in death by her parents, and infant brother-Jarl, an infant sister- Josephine and two brothers, Orville and George Stensland.
