Melvin was born November 11, 1921,in Brush Creek Township, MN, the son of Andrew and Allette (Midtbo) Bromeland. He was raised and educated in Brush Creek where he attended rural District School 82. He was married to Betty Nelson on May 27, 1944 at Dell Lutheran Church, rural Frost. In the late 1940s Melvin began the Bromeland Excavating. Excavating and building projects were his passion which built a successful business and kept him working on projects until 2007. He was a longtime member of United Lutheran Church in Frost and also served on the Frost School Board. Later in life he & Betty began to enjoy wintering in the Mesa, Arizona area and enjoyed some travel. Melvin and his sister, Gertrude, fulfilled a lofelong dream traveling to Norway in 2006. He also enjoyed playing cards at the Senior Citizen Center in Frost and having coffee with friends at the Frost Caf. Melvin is survived by his wife, Betty of Blue Earth, his son, Jim (& Carol) Bromeland of Houston, MN, his son, Bob (& Barbara) Bromeland of Blue Earth, his daughter, Mary (& Bill) Halverson of Frost, his son, Tom Bromeland of Blue Earth, his sister, Gertrude Mohr of Frost, 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Thelma Bromeland of Frost, brother-in-law, Wesely (& Irene) Nelson of Blue Earth and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Arnonld and Donald Bromeland.
