Marge was born October 11, 1922, in Ledyard, Iowa, the daughter of Timothy & Kathryn (McGuire) Doocy. She was raised and educated in Ledyard where she graduated from high school in 1940. She was married to James D. Smitty Smith on June 24, 1944 in Oklahoma. The couple lived in Lakota, Iowa, following their marriage for a few years before settling in Elmore, MN. Marge worked as a bookkeeper for several businesses in Ledyard and in Elmore. After that, both Marge & Smitty worked at the Elmore Nursery where Marge was the secretary of the business for several years. They later owned Blue Earth Landscape for 25 years until retiring in 2000. Marge has been a longtime member of the Lakota Presbyterian Church and the church circle. She was also a member of her local bridge club and the American Legion Auxiliaries in Blue Earth & Elmore. She has been a resident of St. Lukes Lutheran Care Center since 2001. Marge is survived by her son, Roger (Fay) Smith of Blue Earth; her daughter, Kathy (Terry) Goodwin of Elmore; her daughter, Sharon (Jerry) Post of Lanesboro, MN; her brother, Tom (Shirley) Doocy of Minneapolis; her sisters Kathryn (Vincent) Engelby of Albert Lea, Georgia (Carlyle) Engelby of Ledyard, IA, Shirley (Darrel) Fenstermaker of Homerville, Ohio, Delores (Roger) Schwab of Granada, and Diane Krosch of Elmore. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 8 great grandchilren and 3 step great grandchildren. Marge was preceded in death by her parents, husband Smitty, sister Alice Kockler, brothers James, Joe, Pat and Dennis Doocy, and son-in-law Larry Mair.
