Astrid M. Ahrens

She was born December 10, 1915, the daughter of Jens and Louise (Fredrickson) Knoff, at Sims, North Dakota and grew up on a farm near Grafton, North Dakota. She graduated from Concordia College in Moorehead, MN and received her Masters Degree from Mankato State . She taught home economics and many other courses in her long teaching career. She taught in Nicollet, Elmore, Delavan and Blue Earth for 33 years, retiring in 1976. Astrid married Ervin Ahrens June 18, 1940 and they lived in Blue Earth until she moved, following Ervins death in 1992, to Three Links in Northfield in 1998. Astrid is survived by her daughter, Mary (& Harlan) More of Northfield, her grandsons, Randy (Joanne Swandby) More, Scott (Diane) More, granddaughter, Rebecca (Steve) Piechowski, great grandchildren, Ethan More, Lindsey & Sydney More, Madeline & Mary Piechowski and, sisters in law, Charlotte Thompson & Ione Gartzke. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ervin in 1992 and four brothers.The family has requested that memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer''s Foundation or Three Links Care Center, 815 Forest Ave., Northfield, MN.
