Anna B. Smith

Ann was born November 26, 1934 in Martin County, MN the daughter of Martin and Agnes (Rybakowski) Shumski. She attended district #6 school in Silver Lake Township and later graduated from East Chain High School in 1952. She attended Mankato Business College and then began working in the office of the Bob Wallace Mercantile Company and later at Fairmont National Bank in Fairmont. Ann was married to Robert Allen Smith on May 3, 1958 in Fairmont. In 1965 the family moved to the Pilot Grove area, where together they made their living farming the land. She was involved in all aspects of the farming enterprise. The couple had two children, Rick and Robin. Ann served on the board of Southern Prairie Parish, was aTrustee of the First United Methodist Church, was active in the United Methodist Women, was Liturgist, a Key Person, was a volunteer at Lakeview Health Care Center, Pilot Grove One Fund Drive, was Superintendent of flowers at the Faribault Co. Fair, member of the Better Blossoms Club, member of the Rose Lake Golf Club and the Neighbor Card Club. She enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, playing golf, playing cards, watching her grandchildren in all their school and 4-H activities, being a homemaker and helping Bob do the farm work. Ann is survived by her husband, Robert of rural Guckeen, son Rick (& wife Mary Kay) Smith of East Chain, daughter, Robin (& husband Tom) Huber of New Ulm, grandchildren: Garrett (& Melissa) Smith of Duluth, Chad Smith of East Chain, Mariah Smith of East Chain, Brittany Huber of New Ulm, Jordan Huber of New Ulm, brothers: Jerome (& Mary) Shumski of Fairmont, Eugene (& Anita) Shumski of Fullerton, CA, sisters: Virginia Krumholz of Pico Rivera, CA, LeAnna Adams of Grand Forks, ND, Phyllis Dorschner of Kasson, brother-in-law, Arvid (& Lynette) Smith of Elmore, sisters-in-law, Mary (& Paul) Schavey of Blue Earth, Jeannette (& Arden) Thompson of Bena, MN and Elaine Smith of Denver, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant sister-Millicent, sister-Adeline Faush, sister-Shirlee Terveer, Fahter & Mother in law- David & Evelyn Smith, brothers-in-law, Dennis and Bruce Smith.
