He was born November 11, 1934, on a farm northeast of Frost, the son of Curtis A. and Selma T. (Thompson) Olson. Roger was raised in Frost where he attended country school and graduated from Frost High School in 1952. Following school he began driving a truck for Brekke & Quamm Trucking in Frost. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958, where he was stationed in Germany. He returned home and began working for Perlon Thompson Road Construction in 1959. "Red" later worked for Barton Brothers Road Construction in Osseo, MN and Blaetner Road Construction in Avon, MN. He was married to Elsie A. Pulver on August 25, 1973 at First United Methodist Church in Blue Earth. Following his retirement on December 31, 1995, he loved working on his family farm with his brother Claire until recent illness prevented. Roger is survived by his wife, Elsie Olson of Blue Earth, his brothers, Claire (& Diane) Olson of Frost, and Dennis (& Mavis) Olson of Fairmont, sisters, Shirley (& Larry) Vetsch of Leesburg, Fl., & Bonnie (& Larry) Fowler of Dundas, his step-daughters, Bonnie (& Bruce) Ankeny of Blue Earth, Connie (& Paul) Stevens of Armstrong, IA, & Debbie (& Craig) Smith of Sioux Center, IA, his step-son, Rick Hesvik of Fairmont, 7 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother-Dale.
