Dr. John Anderson

November 15, 1921 — January 22, 2007

He was born November 15, 1921, at Litchfield, MN, the son of Emil and Martha (Linner) Anderson.John earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota and then served in the U.S. Army in Europe during WW II. He returned home and was married to Lorraine I. Coddington on January 5, 1943 in Minneapolis. Following his military service he attended the University of Minnesota Medical School, graduating in 1951. He practiced medicine in Sidney, Montana for a few years before coming to Blue Earth in 1956. He was a practicing physician in Blue Earth for many years, and was instrumental in establishing a dedicated cardiac care unit in the local medical facilities. Dr. Anderson was a conservationist and was active in Ducks Unlimited and many other wildlife & conservation minded organizations. He established his own wildlife refuge area and authored several articles promoting conservation issues. He was an avid photographer, who shared the results of his talent with a great number of persons and organizations. Dr Anderson greatly enjoyed writing, and authored a variety of books which were well received. He was also a member of the Riverside Town & Country Club, American Legion Post 89 and various other service groups and organizations in the Blue Earth area.He is survived by his four sons, William (& Rita) Anderson of Oakland, CA, Nicholas Anderson of Little Falls, Chris (& Rosario) Anderson of Fairmont, and Timothy Anderson of Driggs, Idaho his sister, Mary Maher of Belgrade, 7 grandchildren: Peter Anderson, Thomas Anderson, Jennifer Anderson, Nichole Anderson, Christopher Anderson, Macie Anderson & Melody McClure, and 2 great grandchildren, Zach & Zoey Anderson.He was preceded in death by his parents, wife-Lorraine in 2002 and sister- Ruth Bordin.
