Leonard C. Urban

April 24, 1926 — January 22, 2007

Leonard was born April 24, 1926, at Truman, MN, the son of Oscar and Anna (Mausling) Urban.He was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Truman and later confirmed at St. James Lutheran Church in Northrup. He served in the U.S. Army with occupation forces in Germany during World War II. He also served in the Army Reserves in 1951. He helped build airplane hangers at Yuma Test Station in Arizona. Leonard was married to Vera Eversman on September 10, 1948 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont. He worked for several contractors and began working for 3M in Fairmont in 1952. In 1970 the couple moved to Blue Earth where the couple owned and operated the 220 caf?? while Leonard continued to work at 3M in Fairmont. He retired for health reasons in 1985, after 33 years with 3M. Leonard sang in the church choir and taught Sunday school for 14 years at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont. He was currently a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth and the Blue Earth American Legion Post # 89 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4580. He had been a resident of St. Luke''s Lutheran Care Center since October 2006. Leonard is survived by his wife, Vera Urban of Blue Earth, his son, DuWayne (& Crystal) Urban of Minneapolis, his daughter, Karen (& Dennis) Osmundson of Blue Earth, his son, Don (& Marty) Urban of Waseca, his son, Darrel(& Elaine) Urban of Carlisle, IA, his sister, Lillian Larson of Truman, his brother, Lorin (& Ruby) Urban of Fairmont, 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, many cousins, nieces & nephews. Also surviving are sisters-in-law: Hilda Meyer of Benson, Florence Eversman of Maple Grove, Caroline (& Charles) Varney of Silver Bay and Del Eversman of Fairmont.He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, brother-Norman, brothers-in-law: Ed Meyer of Benson, Syver Larson of Northrup, Harold Eversman of Madison, Arnold Eversman of Fairmont and a sister-in-law, Adelia Eversman.
