Lyle was born March 3, 1939, at Graceville, MN, the son of Lind and Hanna (Hanson) Bailey.He was raised and educated in Chokio, MN where he attended country school and graduated from Chokio High School in 1957. Following high school he farmed for a few years and then served in the U.S. Army. He returned home and attended the University of Minnesota at Morris where he earned his bachelors degree in Economics and Sociology. He worked in Buffalo, New York for a short time before coming to Blue Earth in 1970. He was married to Judy Hull on August 14, 1971 in Ashfield, Ma. He worked in various community businesses including at the Day Activities Center, with the Faribault Co. Dairy Herd Improvement Association as a tester for several years, and at the Continental Grain Bins for several years. He retired in 2006. Lyle was a longtime member of Salem United Methodist Church in Blue Earth (now the Southern Prairie Parish) where he served as a Lay delegate and Lay speaker. He was also a past member of the American Legion Post #89, Sertoma Club and was a Blue Earth Township officer for many years.Lyle was a volunteer and service member for the Minnesota Valley Action Council, Decision-Hills Camp Board, Faith in Action and the United Hospital District. He also enjoyed raising and training Siberian Huskies which he sold throughout the upper Midwest and was an avid gardener who shared his produce with friends and neighbors.Lyle is survived by his wife, Judy Bailey of Blue Earth, his daughter, Megan (& Jason) Dahlheimer of Plymouth, his son, Nathan Bailey of Mankato, his 3 grandchildren, his brother, Roy (& Vivian) Bailey of Ortonville, his sister, Doris (& Robert) Watson of Benson, Arizona, his sister, Lois (& Robert) Hall of Brookesville, Florida, his sister, Janice Nolan of Perham and many nieces & nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant grandson- Ian Dahlheimer and a brother-in-law, David Nolan.
