Donald was born May 23, 1926, in Faribault Co., MN, the son of Abraham and Margaret (Brooks) Danks.He was raised and educated in the Frost area where he attended Frost country school and Frost High School before graduating from Blue Earth High School in 1944. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a Gunner Trainer during WW II. He returned home and operated the Lunch Nook Restaurant for a few years. Don had worked at the Blue Earth Rendering Plant for over 37 years, many of which as the Chief Boiler Operator, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the American Legion Post 89, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever and the Deer Hunting Association. Don enjoyed various sports, especially following the Minnesota Vikings. He also enjoyed gardening, hunting, playing cards and sporting events of his children and grandchildren.Donald is survived by his wife, Vivian Danks of Blue Earth, his daughter, Peggy (& Donald) Day of Blue Earth, his son, Dan (& wife Monica) Danks of Fairmont, his daughter, Paula (& Joe) Drahos of Litchfield, his son, Darrel (& wife Sheryl) Danks of Hutchinson, his daughter, Jennie (& William) Andrews of Blue Earth, 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, a son-DeWayne Danks, a grandson-Derek Danks and a special aunt & uncle- Jennie and Tommy Thompson.
