Bob was born April 24, 1920, at Carroll Co., Illinois the son of John G. and Anna (Heinrich) Volz.He was raised and educated in Illinois and graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1938. He lived in California for a time before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1942 until 1945, stationed in Hawaii. He was married to LaVonne Peterson on December 23, 1942 at Dell Lutheran Church in Frost. Following his discharge, the couple moved to a farm near Dell on March 1, 1946. They continued to farm there until his retirement in 1984. Bob served on the Emerald Township Board and was a longtime member of Dell Lutheran Church where he served on the church council. The couple moved to Blue Earth in 1984 and eventually became member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Bob is survived by his wife, LaVonne Volz of Blue Earth, daughter, Joan Volz of Welch, his daughter, Paula (& Kevin) Thompson of Richmond, Virginia, his daughter, Paulette VonMende of Richmond, Virginia, his son, Kent (& Deb) Volz of St. Paul, his daughter, Gail (& David) George of Sota Springs, Idaho, his daughter, Bonita Hagedorn of Blue Earth, his daughter, Lynette (& John) Messer of Spirit Lake, Iowa, his son, Scott ( & Lori) Volz of Frost, his son, Lee Volz of Inver Grove Heights, his sister, Ruth Wimsett of Elmore, 18 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, sister- Violet Wilson, brother- Jim Volz and a son-in-law: Aki VonMende.Memorial donations will be directed to the United Hands Hospice or Trinity Lutheran Church, Blue Earth.
