Velma Stevens

She was born September 1, 1927, at Adams, Nebraska, the daughter of Rendit and Sarah (DeYoung) DeBoer. She was raised in Nebraska and Arkansas. In the early 1940''s she moved near family in the Fairmont area. She was married to Edwin H. Wiederhoft on December 14, 1946. Velma was a homemaker in Fairmont, raising six children. She later lived in Colorado from 1972 until 1977 where she was a nurses aide. When she moved to Truman in 1977 she began working as a nurses aide at the Truman Health Care Center. Edwin died in 1987 and she was later married to Maurice Doolittle for a short time before his death. In April of 1993 she was married to George W. Stevens and they moved to Blue Earth. Velma was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth and was a faithful volunteer at the Senior Center and St. Luke''s Lutheran Care Center. She enjoyed playing dice, watching Wheel of Frotune, following the Minnesota Twins and spending time visiting with family and friends.Velma is survived by her daughter, Linda (& Dennis) Murphy of Olathe, Kansas, son, Bruce (& Patrice) Wiederhoft of Lake Crystal, daughter, Brenda (& Steve) Skramstad of Eagle Lake, daughter, Debra (& Charles) Johnson of Wells, son, Paul (& Deb) Wiederhoft of Blue Earth, son, David (& Gwen) Wiederhoft of Brumley, Missouri,step-son, Bill (& Lois) Stevens of St. Paul, step-son, Mike (& Jane) Stevens of Francistown, New Hampshire, step-son, Gary (& Charlene) Doolittle of Lafayette, Colorado, sister, Fern Sams of Sana Maria, California, her brothers: Harold (&Gladys) DeBoer, Larry (& Bonnie) DeBoer, Merle (& Evie) DeBoer all of Fairmont, 21 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents. 3 husbands, sister, Goldie Dirksen, sister, Dorothy Peterson, brother, Warren DeBoer, infant twin brother-Virgil, an infant sister, son-in-law, Bill Bach and a daughter-in-law, Janet (DeGuise) Wiederhoft.
