Dean M. Harmon

Dean was born December 22, 1937, at Joice, Iowa, the son of Emlett & Pauline Harmon. Dean was adopted by Ray & Evelyn Harmon in 1948.He grew up and went to school in Walters, Kiester, and graduated from Bricelyn in 1956. During his teen age years he lived on the farm north of Bricelyn and spent much of his time helping his grandparents, Walter & Mary Peterson, in their restaurant. He also worked for Wolf & Habine Grocery Store in Bricelyn and enjoyed playing football. Dean then served for two years in the Army 4th Armored Division in Germany from 1957-1959. After service he came back to Blue Earth and worked for Elmer Knudsen at the Super Valu Store in the meat dept. In 1961 he moved to Baltimore, MD, working in the meat business most of the years with George''s National Beef & Prov. Co. in sales, serving restaurants & hotels and was elevated to General Manager of the company. Dean moved back to Minnesota in 1986 and worked as Sales Manager for Drapers in Fairmont. On January. 9, 1988 he married Trudy Duncan Nyberg at Blue Earth. Dean and Trudy owned & operated Roy Dean''s Steak House in Blue Earth. Upon closing, Dean went to work for Hamilton''s in Blue Earth and Perkins in Fairmont. Dean was a past member and ruling elder at the First Presbyterian Church and currently a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. He was also a member of American Legion Post #89 in Blue Earth.He is survived by his Wife: Trudy Harmon, Blue Earth, MN, Son: Dean (& wife Kathy) Harmon, Jr., Baltimore, MD, Sister: Doreen (& husband Jerry) Helin, Austin, MN, Brother: Donald (& wife Durene) Harmon, Surprise, AZ, Brother: Richard (& wife Judy) Harmon, Harris, IA, Brother: David (& wife Rowena) Harmon Iverson, Woodstock, GA, Brother: Duaine(& wife Ellyn) Harmon, Lake Mills,IA, Brother: Darrell Harmon, Phoenix, AZ, Brother: Greg (& wife LuAnn) Tarr, Gladstone, MO, Grandson: Dean Harmon III, Step-son: Jason Nyberg, Step-granddaughters: Veronica & Sydney Nyberg.Dean was preceded in death by his Parents, Step-parents; Evelyn & Ray Harmon, Mother & Father-in-law; Helen & Arvin Stenehjem, & Step-son; Tyler Scott Nyberg.
