Gladys Brakke

Gladys was born June 16, 1914, at Emmons, MN, the daughter of Ellef and Thea (Tangen) Olson.She attended Gravel Pit School at rural Kiester and was baptized and confirmed at Kiester Trinity Lutheran Church. Gladys was married to Leo R. Amundson in 1932. She worked at the Kiester Courier Newspaper before moving to the the Guckeen area in 1936. She was later married to Earl R. Childs in 1939. Gladys was a homemaker and had worked at Green Giant, St. Luke''s Lutheran Care Center and Telex. After Earl''s death in 1966 she was later married to Vern Brakke in the early 1970''s. She always enjoyed playing cards with friends and at family gatherings.Left to mourn her loss are her daughter, Loretta (Milden) Schock of Blue Earth, 4 step-children: Roslyn Drake, Floraine Halgren, Connie Edwards and Gail Jude. She also leaves a step-daughter-in-law, Arla Childs, 4 grandchildren: Steven (Kathy) Schock of Tucson, AZ, Jeffrey (Nancy) Schock of Maple Plain, Linda (Tom) Pieschel of Ironwood, Mi., and Cindy (Greg) Anderson of Chaska, 9 great grandchildren , 1 great great grandchild, 11 step-grandchildren and 8 step-great grandchildren.Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, 3 husbands, 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Ole (Amelia) Olson, Melvin (Aileen) Olson, 2 step-children, Dick Childs and Phyllis Garbers and other realtives and friends.
