Hazel Evelyn Schroeder, age 96, of Blue Earth, died Sunday, July 2, 2006, at St. Lukes Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth. She was born March 8, 1910, in Lura Township, Delavan, MN the daughter of Albert C. and Leona E. (Smith) Meininger. She was raised and educated in Lura Township where she attended a one room country school. She was married to George J. Schroeder on June 8, 1933; her mothers birthday and parents wedding anniversary date. The couple followed their wedding by attending the 1933 Chicago Exposition. Hazel & George farmed on the Schroeder homestead in Barber Township. Hazel enjoyed reading poetry, bird watching, tending to her flower and vegetable gardens and enjoying the many wonders of nature. She is survived by her daughter, Marie H. (Merlyn) Swedberg of Mankato, son, Charles J. Schroeder of North Mankato, daughter, Mavis J. (John) Sabin of Blue Earth, grandchildren: Mark (Sue), Kevin (Colleen) & Myra Swedberg, Michael (Andrea), Stacy, and Tracy Sabin, and great grandchildren: Taylor, Jackson and Brianna Swedberg.Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, George, in 1984. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Clarence Meininger & Leslie Meininger, sisters, Elma Palmer & Mabel Christensen and a granddaughter, Marlene Swedberg.
